I think we’d have to be a bit naive to answer that question, “No.” In the history of country music…THE HISTORY…we’ve only seen a single country artist who was signed to a major record label, with their feet already comfortably planted in the sound and machinery of mainstream country come out as gay. That happened yesterday when T.J. Obsborne (half of Brothers Osborne) decided to tell the world in an interview with TIME. I did an exposé on this several years ago and I feel it still rings very true.
