Blake Shelton Is On The Voice Because This Country Artist Turned Down The Gig

Don’t get me wrong, I think Blake Shelton is probably the best part of The Voice…I loved his bromance with Adam Levine. But he almost didn’t get the job.

The chair was first offered to Reba McEntire, but she obviously turned down the gig. She confirmed the rumor on Watch What Happens Now according to ET.

Her reasoning? She said she wouldn’t “ever be able to tell somebody that they’re terrible or go find another job or hope you like your nighttime job.”

She did appear as a mentor for Team Blake in the first season and has since come back as a celebrity mentor. I think Reba would have done a great job, but let’s be honest, Blake kind of makes the show.
